Phishing
Fake emails, SMS, and websites designed to steal login credentials, credit card numbers, and personal information.
How This Scam Works
- 1You receive an email or SMS that appears to be from a legitimate company
- 2The message creates urgency: account suspended, unauthorized login, payment failed
- 3You click a link that leads to a fake website identical to the real one
- 4You enter your credentials or personal information on the fake site
- 5Scammers now have access to your real account
Red Flags to Watch For
- Sender email doesn't match the official domain
- Generic greetings instead of your name
- Urgent language requiring immediate action
- Suspicious links (hover to check before clicking)
- Spelling and grammar errors
- Requests for passwords or sensitive information via email
What to Do If You're a Victim
- Do not click links in suspicious emails or SMS
- Go directly to the website by typing the URL
- Enable two-factor authentication on all accounts
- Report phishing emails to the company being impersonated
- Change passwords immediately if you entered credentials on a fake site
